Maybe it should be class dependant? for example warriors fight warriros and so on. If you do decide to fight a different class then maybe there is a class handicap so that it balances when they are they are fighting...less hp or manna something like that?
also fix the rigging by making it like guild battles..two of you dont run up to fight each other...its random. It would be cool to fight someonelse though so I guess those matches you couldnt bet on.

Interesting idea! The choice to fight an other class must be there and I don't think the handicap should be there. I want to be able to prove that warriors can't beat anything else if that other player plays decently. It's not prejudice, I have a warrior lvl 20, but I only use it for tanking and running, never pvp. But you should be able to challenge a single person to a duel. So I'm against the random thing. And the betting isn't good because it invites fruad. Unless the betting ones have a randomized system.
How about that?
A challenger system without rewards, and a random system with betting and rewards

Alrite, tombs is getting kinda boring doing the same old thing over and over!! same maps over and over!!! same objectives over and over!!!! Builds are fun but are time consuming!! team arena is boring!!! same thing over and over!!! Ive tried all characters all skills unlocked and most of the builds out ther!! and it seems to get boring once u hit rank 9 and have to get 100,000 more fame to hit rank 12!! i was wondering what u guys think about having a 1 vs 1 arena!! and making builds just for 1v1! and maybe getting an ear once you kill someone like in Diablo so u can boast and show how many ppl you killed so its fun and addictive just like fame!! please don't flame this is only a suggestion that has been addressed but i was wondering what everyone thinks of it now and what aNET has said about it.

1 v 1 is ultra imbalance. Unless you take a whole skill bar of enhant removal, or else you will never be able to kill a prot monk.

You guys aren't thinking more out of the box. Who said it was going to be specifcally random?
There could be options of warriors vs warriors, necros vs. necros, etc. So we shouldn't come to fast conclusions. Be a bit more open minded. Invincible builds? Psh. Beg to differ when going around CA. There is none. For each build there is a counter.
btw. I'm still asking lots of people to one on one (warriors) in CA. Hello to those who have met me already.

I disagree. Most of the time in CA there isnt even 1 person in a team with Enchantment Removal. I could get away with using a 55 monk if protective bond still worked. People are too stupid to bring enchantment removal, or they dont need to. 1v1 would be solo monk vs solo monk. Wouldn't work.

This idea has been presented in many different ways how many times before
Personally I'm all for a little one v one arena where say friends and guildmates can go fight each other to work out different ways of countering each other, for example a mesmer and a ranger, the ranger is trying to interrupt the mesmer and the mesmer needs to find a way to take out the ranger.

1vs1 is fundamental to giving Guild Wars longevity.
Waiting around for parties to form millions of times over months has a very wearing effect on one's real-life stamina. And most of the time if it's a PUG, you only win a few rounds with that party before a few members "have to go" and then the agonizing wait starts all over again.
Putting 1vs1 in would alleviate this problem to a large degree.
I even advocate 1vs1 for Fame. I am sure the devs could find a way to balance it and make the challenge of winning such matches on par with the challenge of winning Fame in Tombs.

im thinking thath when u kill one player in 1 vs 1 arenas, u get unlike 1-10 fame for one winning + faction,because its very hard to get fame in tombs becasue unlike europen distrikcks are so motch of unexperience players.

I think 1vs1 would be great, it definietly would bring a new aspect to the game. Would be pretty cool to have an argument with someone and then challenge them to a little 1vs1.
And as far as imballance?? Just put a time limit on it like 15 minutes and then it would be a draw.

ok , if 2 prot monks go for duel , then its their problem , they will stay there for ages , no one dies ... its not 1vs1 system foult ... they chose to be prot monks and to fight with each other ... anyway a time limit could help on prot vs prot ... if time limit expires , they could be atacked by lians , who kills more wins or something ....

This would be nice, because in 1v1, I AM THE MIGHTY
Also maybe have a ranking guild system showing who is the bestest in 1-1, because some people arent good in teams, and others arent good in 1-1.
